What do we get up to on a kids holiday camp day?

Well, put it this way kids yoga isn’t about containing kids to be still & quiet. It’s rather an opportunity to allow children to connect with their minds & bodies in a safe & playful way.

We always start our kids holiday camps & yoga in schools by checking in and finding out how the kids are feeling before we start the session. Our traffic light mood tool is perfect for kids to show us how they are feeling when perhaps they may feel reluctant to verbally share. As a teacher, this part of the lesson is one of the most important to me so I can be aware of the children that are in the red zone.

It’s then high energy to get our bodies warmed up (a really vital part before stretching!), we use several songs incorporating kid yoga poses, and everyone loves it! You can see everyone getting warmed up and smiles on their faces ready for the rest of the kids yoga session.

Each camp we run has a kids yoga theme - Superheroes, Jungle, Ocean, Rainbow, Festival…..and include a number of enriching crafts for the children to engage in based around the theme of the camp. We have made Halloween puppets, ocean sand art pictures, superhero suncatchers, slime & monkey cupcakes. Children also then get involved in themed kids yoga, yoga games, challenges, parachute yoga, mindfulness & to end a very busy day at holiday camp, relaxation!

You know what’s really special about our kids yoga & craft holiday camp? That so many of the kids (well the parent’s do it for them) keep booking again and again!

Check out our website section ‘Holiday Camps’ to keep updated on our next kids yoga & craft camp we are running in Canterbury, Kent.
